Introducing “Mail my way”

Snail Mail has truly experienced a comeback in recent times and we’re so thrilled that more and more people are putting pen to paper in our technological age. So today we’d like to showcase our newest product range called “Mail my way”, a series of illustrated letter writing sets to encourage you to send more mail and write on some very cute paper and envelopes. This first one is the “Mishka Edition” and features our signature panda.

Design process: Mishka is always hand-drawn first to start the ideas flowing. Then we use a bamboo stylus pen and create illustrations directly in Adobe Illustrator, add a pop of colour and the result can be seen below!

What is included in this pack:

  • 6 x A5 lined letter writing paper
  • 2 x envelopes
  • 2 x envelope seals
  • 1 x paper clip

All this for $10 AUD plus shipping.

“Mail my way” packaging is professional and our product is of a high quality.

Visit our online shop to get your “Mail my way” kit today!

We’ll be at The District Makers Market this Sunday, 17th of June so you can shop directly from us then if you’re in Melbourne!

Snail Mail Challenge

I participated in a letter writing challenge as part of International Correspondence Writing Month (aka InCoWriMo) where we had to mail out a postcard or letter every day in the month of February.

I wanted to share some of my outgoing mail with you and say I really enjoyed taking part but feel like we really have become a society too dependant on technology. It felt so great to pick up a pen and write to a stranger or friend. I look forward to trying this again next year!

Happy snail mailing!

Christmas Events

Sorry for the lack of updates on here, dear friends. Somehow time just got the better of me.

I’m excited to share that this month, the very last in 2017, we’ll be at two Christmas events in Melbourne where you can buy our products. The first is happening this Sunday December 10th, at Sir William Fry Reserve in Highett. The event is called Carols by Kingston and for the first time we’ll be selling from inside a marquee!

We’ve been super busy getting everything ready for what promises to be a very exciting night filled with handmade goodies, gourmet food, cheerful carols and celebrity appearances. Please come along if you can! We’ll be there from 6.30pm until 10pm.

These are just a handful of products that you could expect to find when you shop at our stall. Your support means the world to us and we always get such a kick from interactive directly with our customers.

The second event this month is happening at Clarinda Community Centre on Friday 15th of December from 5pm – 9pm as a twilight Christmas market. We’re just as excited to be part of this smaller event.

Hope to see you at one of these great events soon! Have a lovely weekend!

Best Stationery Shops in Melbourne

Polaroids

When travelling, I make sure to research the best stationery shops in the cities I’m visiting. As a paper lover and stationery addict I simply can’t resist walking into a HEMA store in Amsterdam, a Paperchase outlet in London or a Papyrus boutique in New York. When it comes to stationery shops in my hometown of Melbourne there are 4 major chains dominating the marketplace – Officeworks, kikki.K, Typo and Kaisercraft. These multi-million dollar brands stock all the latest pens, notepads, greeting cards, stickers, tapes, planners and more! If however you’d like to support smaller businesses and shop locally, here’s a map of my favourite stationery shops in town…

Shop G46/172-210 Burwood Hwy, Burwood East VIC 3151

Entering beautifully decorated stationery shops always gives me such a thrill! I should also point out that there are some great gift shops in greater Victoria. Take a trip to the Dandenong Ranges to towns such as Olinda and Sassafras or drive down the coast to beautiful Rye and Sorrento for some great local shops. They are slightly overpriced due to the seasonally higher numbers of tourists who visit these towns but they shouldn’t be overlooked.

12 Months of Mishka Mail

It’s incredible to reflect on these past months and realise that we actually managed to create a whole year’s worth of Mishka Mail kits to send out into the universe. What began as an idea 12 months ago, launched in August 2016 and has finished its course this month with the last of our July orders getting shipped out today. Mishka Mail was our monthly stationery subscription box filled with cute greeting cards, gift tags, stickers, wall prints and more. We’d like to sincerely thank everyone who supported this concept, those who agreed to review a box, helped spread the word to their family and friends, ran our giveaway for us, and of course subscribed for the months they wanted. Thank you! We are forever grateful.

All past Mishka Mail kits can still be purchased until July 31st. Then from August 1st we’ll be launching our new concept called “Cute Parcels”, which will allow you to choose the products you’d like to receive in your cute parcel of stationery from a selection available! We can’t wait to show you guys how it works! Thanks for the support!

Please visit our Online Shop where you can buy many of the products from Mishka Mail:

For the love of Snail Mail

I have a confession to make. Apart from owning my own stationery label I’m also a massive stationery fan with a stash of postcards, cute stickers, patterned washi tapes, greeting cards and funky envelopes all waiting to be used up when an opportunity presents itself. Luckily for me I absolutely love the art of writing letters and usually end up using store-bought items as well as my own creations in my outgoing snail mail to friends.

Snail Mail

We live in a technological age where it has become the norm to send instant text messages, emails and social media posts out into the world. This simplifies our fast-paced lives and ensures we’re always connected. Everything happens in the blink of an eye. For me there’s something so special about sending out a message in the old form of a letter. I love spending my spare time just sitting down with a cup of tea in the garden, pen in hand, filling the page with all the events of life that occurred in the time since our last correspondence and describing everything there is to look forward to in the future. There’s a great deal of therapeutic value in the art of handwriting your thoughts on paper to a friend half way across the globe. Have you tried it yet? It’s truly so much fun!

Letter-WritingGetting Creative

Thankfully there’s still plenty of love for this tangible form of communication. On Instagram there are great hashtags such as #snailmailrevolution and #sendmoremail going around. Indeed many of my penpals and I still rely on the instant messaging service within Instagram to communicate to each other when we send or receive a letter. I don’t think I could’ve ever had the patience to write letters in the good old days.

In many ways we are fortunate to live in the 21st century but I just hate the thought of imagining email replacing handwritten correspondence the way the keyboard I’m currently typing on replaced the classic typewriter and the way in which e-cards are slowly replacing actual greeting cards in the mailbox. We can’t let this happen.

Envelope Decoration

I encourage you (yes YOU!) to help us revive the snail mail movement. I can’t vouch for the online post-crossing websites many people use because I managed to find all my penpals via Instagram, but if you’re passionate about putting pen to paper, send someone a letter today and you’ll know just how good it feels to send as well as receive one back. It can be a simple thank you card, a declaration of love for your better half or a creative masterpiece to a friend. Have fun with it!

Oh and if you’re so inclined to buy your stationery from me and support my small business, I’ll be eternally grateful. Visit our brand new Online Shop here.

Happy mailing!
